Super Typhoon, shown at the 21st TIFF Competition, to hit screens on SEP 25 at Shinjuku Mirano

Super Typhoon, shown at the 21st TIFF Competition section has been decided to be released theatrically in Japan from
September 25, 2010.

A typhoon of unprecedented magnitude is spawned off the coast of China. This spectacular film with special effects portrays various human events that are tossed about by the typhoon.
Showing on September 25 at Shinjuku Mirano in Tokyo and going nationwide

Our Brief Eternity, shown at the 22nd TIFF Japanese Eyes, to hit screen from OCT 16!

Our Brief Eternity has been decided to be in release from October 16 2010. The film was shown at the 22nd TIFF Japanese Eyes section, directed by Takuya Fukushima who has been recognized internationally including at ˝10th Nippon Connection˝ film festival in Germany and a new generation's festival ˝SHINSEDAI CINEMA FESTIVAL˝ held in Toronto Canada.
The first-run will begin on Saturday night, October 16 at K's cinema in Shinjuku Tokyo and it will be shown nationwide.

Eastern Plays, the winner of the 22nd TIFF Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix is coming to Theater Image Forum, Shibuya in Oct.

This Bulgarian film, Eastern Plays directed by Kamem Kalev will be released in October 23 in Japan. This outstanding film won 3 Awards; Sakura Grand Prix, Best Director and Best Actor at the 22nd TIFF Competition section.

Neil Jordan to head 23rd Tokyo International Film Festival Jury


Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) is pleased to announce that award-winning Irish filmmaker Neil Jordan will be the Jury President for the International Competition at the 23rd TIFF. He is one of the most highly acclaimed filmmakers in the world and his films have been honored with numerous awards worldwide including Oscar (The Crying Game) and BAFTAs (The Crying Game, The End Of The Affair).
Company Of Wolves, his second film, was selected for the first year of TIFF's Competition section in 1985.

International Competition President - Neil Jordan / Director


Biography
Born in 1950 in Sligo, Ireland, Neil Jordan began his career as a writer. His first book of stories, Night In Tunisia (1976) won the Guardian Fiction prize. Since then he has published five novels, The Past (1979), The Dream Of A Beast (1983), Sunrise With Sea Monster (1994), Shade (2005). His most recent novel, Mistaken will be published in 2011.
In 1982 Jordan wrote and directed his first feature film, Angel. Since then he has written, directed and produced more than fifteen films, including Company Of Wolves, Mona Lisa, The Crying Game, Interview With The Vampire, The End Of The Affair, The Butcher Boy, Breakfast On Pluto, The Good Thief and most recently, Ondine. His films have been honoured with numerous awards worldwide, including an Oscar, Baftas, Golden Globes, A Golden Lion from The Venice Film festival and a Silver Bear from Berlin. He has been awarded five honorary doctorates and in 1996 he was appointed Officier of the French Ordres des Artes et des Lettres.

Announcement - Green Carpet Club "Umi-no-Mori" tree-planting


On April 7 2010, a tree planting project was undertaken at the "Umi-no-Mori (Sea Forest)" in Tokyo bay as a part of TIFF Green Carpet Club (GCC) activities.

The 22nd TIFF conducted a fund-raising campaign for conservation and protection of global environment among general public and international filmmakers and mainly from GCC members.

TIFF Office contributed some part of fund-raising to "Tokyo Green Charity" based on the concept of our campaign. Afterward, Tokyo metropolitan government suggested us to participate in a tree planting project, "Umi-no-Mori".
This year, we have decided to be a part of it for the first time.
