Synopsis
Dev marries a classical dancer and takes new post in Lal Maati, a town where word of law is not the police but Beera, a tribe who has, over the years, shifted power equation of the place from ruling to the have-nots of the area. Dev knows that the key to bringing order to any place is to vanquish the big fish: in this case―Beera. In one stroke Dev manages to rip open Beera's world, and set chain of events which will claim lives. Beera, injures but enrages, hits back starting a battle. But when the lines dividing good and evil are blurring fast whose side will you take?

Born on June 2, 1955 at Madurai, India. Ratnam graduated from Madras University and MBA from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. He worked as a management consultant before taking the plunge into making of films. His first film Pallavi Anupallavi, won Karnataka State Award for Best Screenplay in 1983. Guru is his twentieth film. He received Padma Shri in the year 2002 by the President of India.
