Sheron Dayoc hails from Zamboanga City. His awarded short films and documentaries tackle issues from Mindanao. Halaw, his first feature film, has gained Best Picture and Best Director honors at the 2010 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, known as the "Sundance of the Philippines." The film visually narrates labor exploitation and human trafficking from Mindanao to Sabah, Malaysia.
