Director Song Hae-sung is renowned for a unique style that mediates deep drama with exquisite emotion as seen in Failan (2001) and Maundy Thursday (2006). The highly anticipated A Better Tomorrow and Song himself received a great deal of pre-release interest for recreating the story of brotherhood and loyalty between men that give up their lives for one another as an emotional Korean action blockbuster.
