Synopsis
Doris's Café is a homey space where the aroma of coffee and home-baked desserts fills the air. The café is meant to be as elegant as its owner, Doris, but has been turned upside down by her sister, Josie. Ignoring Doris's protest, Josie starts exchanging goods with customers in the shop which becomes the biggest attraction of the shop. One day a man walks in. He brings stories from different cities to exchange something special. These exotic tales fill Doris's mind with beautiful images. What Doris is willing to give up for exchanges these tales?

Hisao Ya-chuan, graduated from Fine Art Department of the National Institute of Arts, has been working in commercial since 1994 and won several commercial awards. He worked with Hou Hsiao-hsien as 1st AD in Flower of Shanghai. His debut film Mirror Image was selected in Director's Fortnight at Cannes 2001 and won numerous awards. Taipei Exchanges is his second feature film.
