Introduction

Kokuga is an old town in Japan with green barley fields, many ruins and old names. Shinko, a girl with a whorl in her hair (or mai-mai), is in her third year of grade school. She hears of the Heian era from her grandfather, and enjoys daydreaming about the city and the people 1000 years ago.
